STRESS and the Change of Seasons
W E E K L Y N E W S L E T T E R

The holidays, while fun, are almost universally the most stressful
time of the year. Now that Halloween has passed (and hopefully you
followed my previous advice on how to avoid eating too much of the
leftover candy!) try to take the next few weeks to intentionally focus on
little things you can do to create or maximize a healthy lifestyle going
into the holiday season. You will have an extra hour this weekend, so
why not spend it taking a walk to get some exercise and enjoy the fall
leaves?
Do you need down time with a friend? Before things get hectic,
reach out to your best bud and schedule some quality time. Maybe you
can enjoy those fall leaves together. We have one of the world’s best
zoos in our back yard. When is the last time you visited?
I often use an app called Happier. It is meant to teach the
practice of healthy mindfulness. Say what? In plain language, it has
short, guided meditations and brief videos teaching the art of
relaxation and anxiety management. You can spend as little as 10
minutes or as long as an hour or more, depending on what works for
you. There are even videos you an use to help you fall asleep at night.
Whatever you do, remember to prioritize your health and your
happiness. We only get one life and one body, so use yours in the best
way possible.
